Brian Coughlan is the founder and president of Utility Management Services, Inc. Prior to founding UMSI, Mr. Coughlan worked for 15 years for Carolina Power & Light Company (now known as Progress Energy). In his last position at CP&L, Mr. Coughlan managed a workforce of 500 people who provided customer service, engineering, and construction services to more than 330,000 customers throughout eastern North Carolina.
Mr. Coughlan has a BS in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech, an MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from North Carolina State University and an Executive MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Mr. Coughlan is a registered professional engineer (PE) in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.
Mr. Coughlan founded UMSI in 1998 to help commercial, industrial, and governmental customers reduce their utility bills. UMSI has completed audits on more than 10,000 electric service accounts. Christine Doyle has recently joined UMS as a Sales & Marketing Coordinator. Before joining UMS, Christine held a number of positions in marketing, sales, and public relations. She also served as an executive assistant to the CEO of a highly recognized graphic design firm, interfacing with numerous Fortune 500 companies. Christine helps identify prospective customers for whom UMS can save money, contacts potential customers throughout the United States, and provides information about our services. Christine also supports the Director of Sales & Marketing and all of the regional Account Managers. She graduated from Siena College, Loudonville, NY, with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Kim has 20+ years of analytical/accounting experience, and has been with UMS for five years. She performs the complex rate analyses, and interfaces with the major power providers as well as the various utility commissions. Kim conducts research on various regional rate opportunities, develops custom spreadsheets and analyzes results, searching for the best possible rate structures for our customers. She also is responsible for the supervision of the analytical staff, overseeing all analysis projects, setting up processes, and ensuring adherence to schedule. Dawn Scudella is the Corporate Account Manager for Utility Management Services. Dawn works with current and potential customers to identify opportunities for significant cost savings. Dawn has extensive experience in customer relations programs, sales, training, and business development. She has been instrumental in the companys growth and development, contributing to the short and long term expansion goals of UMS.
