Brian Coughlan
Brian Coughlan is President and founder of Utility Management Services, Inc.  For the 15 years prior to founding UMS, Mr. Coughlan held a variety of engineering and management positions with Carolina Power & Light Company (now known as Progress Energy).  In his last position at CP&L, he managed a workforce of 500 people who provided customer service, engineering, and construction service throughout eastern North Carolina. Mr. Coughlan has a BS in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech, an MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from North Carolina State University and an Executive MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  He is a registered professional engineer (PE) in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.  Brian and his wife reside in the city of Wilmington, NC.

   

FINANCIAL OPERATIONS DIRECTOR

Leslie Hudson
As the Financial Operations Director, Leslie Hudson oversees the Accounting, Administrative and Auditing/Analyses functions.  Leslie has over 18 years of successful leadership roles in finance and strategy, with a strong track record in maximizing profitability. Prior to joining UMS, she was a vice president for a Richmond-based investment bank. Leslie has a BA in Political Science and International Studies from Virginia Tech, graduating cum laude, and an MBA from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia.

 

INVOICING SPECIALIST

Lindsay Brent
As an Invoice Specialist, Lindsay Brent works closely with our current customer accounts to insure accurate and timely invoicing. Lindsay responds to questions regarding quarterly statements. Prior to joining UMS, she worked in various administrative, management, and customer service roles, within both retail and healthcare industries. 

 

 

 

 RATE ANALYST

Megan Nyce
As a Rate Analyst for UMS, Megan Nyce is responsible for analyzing customers' electric bills to determine the most beneficial rate structures for their specific usage patterns. Megan graduated magna cum laude from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a BS in Business Administration. Prior to joining the UMS team, she worked as a billing analyst where she processed domestic and international invoices within the nuclear power industry. Megan has also previously held other administrative and customer service-oriented positions in various industries.

 

ACCOUNT COORDINATOR

Christine Doyle
Christine Doyle is an Account Coordinator and has been with UMS since 2005.  Prior to joining UMS, Christine held several positions in marketing and public affairs in numerous industries.  She also assisted the CEO of a prestigious graphic design firm in coordinating efforts to produce annual reports for Fortune 500 clients.  Christine enjoys working with northern VA businesses, as she is familiar with the area having served as Public Affairs Coordinator for aero-engine headquarters.  She helps identify customers for whom UMS can find electricity savings, contacts potential customers throughout the U.S., and provides information about our services.  Christine  graduated from Siena College, Loudonville, NY, with a Bachelor of Science degree.

  

ACCOUNT COORDINATOR

Savanna Buffkin
Savanna Buffkin has over eight years of customer service experience, including three years in management.  Prior to joining UMS, Savanna worked for a fortune 500 company where she supported residential and business customers with their technical and administrative needs.  She helps identify prospective customers for whom UMS can save money, contacts potential clients throughout Norfolk, Virginia Beach and surrounding areas, and provides information about our company.  Savanna also supports Area Managers with administrative needs.  Savanna resides in Wilmington with her husband and young son.

  

 

 ACCOUNT COORDINATOR

David West
Prior to joining UMS, David West spent 15 years in both the textile and automotive industries as a quality control manager and quality engineer. David also worked as a collections agent for Time Warner Cable. He attended college at North Carolina State University, receiving a BS in Textile Science and a master's in Statistics. As an Account Coordinator for UMS, David assists customers and area managers with their needs and requests. David and his wife are both natives of Wilmington, NC and still live there.
