Brian Coughlan is the founder and president of Utility Management Services, Inc. Prior to founding UMSI, Mr. Coughlan worked for 15 years for Carolina Power & Light Company (now known as Progress Energy). In his last position at CP&L, Mr. Coughlan managed a workforce of 500 people who provided customer service, engineering, and construction services to more than 330,000 customers throughout eastern North Carolina.
Mr. Coughlan has a BS in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech, an MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from North Carolina State University and an Executive MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Mr. Coughlan is a registered professional engineer (PE) in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.
Mr. Coughlan founded UMSI in 1998 to help commercial, industrial, and governmental customers reduce their utility bills. UMSI has completed audits on more than 10,000 electric service accounts. UMSI has saved more than $ 8,000,000 for customers throughout the southeastern United States. These customers spend more than $ 130,000,000 per year for electricity. Brian@UtilManagement.com

Dawn Scudella is the Corporate Account Manager for Utility Management Services. Dawn works with current and potential customers to identify opportunities for significant cost savings. Dawn has extensive experience in customer relations programs, sales, training, and business development. She has been instrumental in the company’s growth and development, contributing to the short and long term expansion goals of UMS. Dawn graduated from Marian College with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, majored in marketing, and also holds an accounting degree from Moraine Park College. DawnS@UtilManagement.com
